Jodie Jackson

Jodie Jackson has completed a Master’s Degree in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of East London (UK). She has conducted research on the psychological impact of news information on the reader, and in particular the role of positive news and its perceived effects. She believes that it is as important to educate the consumer on these potential effects as it is to get the media industry on board. She is a regular speaker at journalism events and universities.

Both editors and audiences are starting to realize that helplessness, along with many of our other psychological responses to our media intake, is a learned mental state. It can just as easily be unlearned, but we need different information.
