Ruby Irene Pratka is a US-born, Montreal-based freelance writer and editor. Her work has been published in English and French in Vice Québec, HuffPost Québec, Ricochet, Xtra, Shareable, Canadaland and the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph, among other websites and magazines. She holds a master's degree in Public Communication (Université Laval), and has done graduate work on the role of media in peacebuilding in Burundi. She spent three summers in Burundi (2011-2013), including an internship at Radio Isanganiro in Bujumbura, where she witnessed and learned from the work of remarkable investigative reporters. She dreams of working in northern Mali and of returning to Burundi.
